Welcome to our home
In autumn 2022, the Manufacture will welcome you to its newly renovated premises to once again showcase its creations. Founded in 1664 by Colbert, the Manufacture de tapisserie de Beauvais was created under the reign of Louis XIV, like the famous Gobelins and Aubusson tapestries. Today, housed in the former 19th-century municipal abattoirs, it continues to perpetuate ancient skills, including the basse-lisse technique that is the hallmark of Beauvais tapestries. As in the 17th and 18th centuries with Charles Lebrun and François Boucher, the makers of these cartoons are today the great artists of the 21st century. In July and August, on guided tours or during the Journées du Patrimoine (Heritage Days), the factory will open its doors to you as an exceptional opportunity to witness the creation of tapestries that will decorate the palaces of the French Republic.
