The Manufacture is getting a makeover and will welcome you in the fall of 2022 in its newly renovated premises to show you its creations again. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Founded in 1664 by Colbert, the Beauvais Tapestry Factory was created under the reign of Louis XIV like the famous Gobelins and Aubusson factories. Today installed in the old municipal slaughterhouses of the 19th century, it always perpetuates the old know-how of which the technique of the basse-lisse which makes the specificity of tapestries of Beauvais. As in the 17th and 18th century with Charles Lebrun or François Boucher, the authors of the cartoons are today the great artists of the 21st century. In July and August during guided tours or during the Heritage Days, the factory opens its doors exceptionally to assist in the creation of tapestries that will decorate the palaces of the Republic.
